Made in China and found at Walmart. My son is on the line of believing and not believing in Santa. Hmmmm. I knew it was coming, somewhat hoped for it-just for the fact it would make things easier. He received a scooter from Santa this year, unfortunately he found a "Made in China" label on it. Santa left a lay-a-way sticker from Walmart on the GI Joe Plane. What was he thinking? I told him that Santa uses different resources as not to stretch his elves too thin. I don't think he bought it.
Well, I am trying not to sink into deep depression over my car. I know there are worse things out there - but I still worry. Not much planned for tonight (New Year's Eve) - my daughter is going to a slumber party. It will probably be me and my son hanging out - but that is okay. I really don't want to do a lot of driving in my friend's car. I know God has great things in store for 2007 - Happy New Year!

I am not seen. Well, I am, but I am talking about men not seeing me. Well, men see me, if they are 12 or on Social Security. I asked Precious why he thought men did not seem to notice me, he said he notices me just fine, and that is all fine and good, but we have been friends forever, he still likes me though he has seen me in ratty pj's, when I have been sick, at my worst and we never dated or anyting like that. I know I am not model/actress pretty. But I am take home to mom nice/cute. I think it may have to do with confidence and the way I carry myself. That has to be it. I have to work on that. Oh, and I have guy friends, but they are friends-and most of them associate me with being a mom and cupcake queen. Hey guys, I'm here-the almost blonde in the corner. I am reasonably intelligent, not terribly co-dependent, I have been told I am funny and I love to laugh. Here...I am right here.
Car Problems. Ugh. Ugh. Yuck. Yuck. My car is sick. Tonight when I was taking my daughter to a birthday party - my car broke down. Just stopped. Whoo Hoo. Well, it was running, it just wouldn't turn/steer. It made a loud popping noise. Thankfully I broke down right in front of the gym where the party was being held, church friends were there. Two of the husbands worked and looked at the car diligently, they drove it to the shop I use. Because of a job providing a car - a family had a car I could use. But now I worry on how I am going to pay for repairs. I have no clue. I have to admit I went into full panic mode tonight. I didn't handle it well. I am ashamed of myself. Tonight I felt so alone - why I don't know because I have many friends - but it sure would be nice to have a husband...heck a boyfriend in times like this.

Oh - Christmas Tree.
Erma Bombeck once wrote, "nothing clears a room faster than saying It's time to take the tree down." How right she was.
Under duress my daughter helped in taking the tree down. (My son was at a friends house). I try to be neat and precise, wrapping the fragile ornaments up in tissue paper, the crafty ones in a different box to protect glue and paint. But my daughter doesn't have the sentimental attachment I seem to have to all the ornaments - I guess it comes with age. I insisted on wrapping the lights and garland so they wouldn't be tangled next year. The Nativity Set wrapped in paper and tissue, the village cushioned by cotton and plastic, stockings and other cloth items in a separate box-candles in the bottom of the china cabinet.
My daughter worked pretty diligently, then the computer distracted her. But she did help - thanks girlie! My son will come home to a different house. AWWWWW.
I want a new tree. Missouri Becky is trying to decide what to do about hers. I didn't get rid of mine this year - just in case there is no $ next year for a new one.
So now our house is free of the decorations, not even a stray bow is in sight. Seems kind of sad.

I naively assumed 9,000 batteries would be enough. What was I thinking? We need more! And I refused to go to one of the few gas stations open today and pay $500 for a pack of 4 - I know I am exaggerating - but I'm not too far off. Digital cameras and cd players are sucking them dry. Duracell where are you tonight?
My son received several things this morning. But his favorite is the Star Wars Lego playstation game. He has played it all day. He is just now getting on his scooter and opening his other toys. I was worried about Santa's feelings earlier today - worried that he didn't know my son that well - it seems he does. Merry Christmas.
Missouri Becky today you are wrong, tomorrow you will be right, but at this moment, you are wrong. I need rescuing. Today is Christmas, we've had a great day. The kids love everything, I have received some real cool gifts. We started the day with our traditional huge Christmas breakfast (something I started years ago - the one way I know they will eat one decent meal on this day). We went to my sister's house - and this is where I need rescuing. The loneliness hit me full force. It hurts terribly. I need rescuing. Selfishly I want someone for me. All I have been thinking about since we have been home, is how I wish there was someone here to hold me tonight. I am unsure if these feelings would be here if we hadn't gone - but they are here now. I am such a wimp. A lonely wimp.

It is Christmas Eve, my kids are playing Trouble and my son is ready for Santa to come. So am I. It has proven to be a good day. We went to church this morning, sweet service. Kids Choir sang, and we had our own Nativity - it was really cute. They sounded and looked good. I am proud of all of them. My son went fishing after church with my brother-in-law, he caught 5 fish. He was so excited. He needed time away from us - he has been home since coming home for Christmas break - so to put it nicely - he was driving all of us insane. While he was gone, we cooked Christmas dinner. We then had their great-grandmother over. (She is their dad's grandmother - don't ask - it is a strange relationship I have with her - just call us Ruth and Naomi) She is 93 and sharp as a tack. It was a good dinner. She enjoyed hanging out and eating. The kids opened gifts from each other while she was here. My mother gave me a robe and night shirt. I picked out both. (and she insisted that I wrap them up-go figure) The robe is a short one - light green-I like slipping into a robe when I am getting out of the tub. The night shirt is just a shirt from the men's department-their shirts are so much warmer and longer than those made for women. So, while I am on the subject, their socks are warmer too! What is up with that? I can't help but wonder how Precious is doing - I hope all is going okay - and things are better. Tomorrow afternoon - we go to my sister's house for dinner and such. And then later in the evening - I hope to go a friend's house. She goes to my church - we are in the same Singles group and she works with me in Children's choir. She opens her home every year - this will be my first - but from what I understand from other singles - it is always a good time. I have to finish this and find Santa radar. Please remember why we celebrate this holiday - it is always about Jesus. He was born to die for us. Merry Christmas! Love, Becky in Tennessee.

Just call me Betty Crocker. Well, maybe not. Okay, we have finished with the holiday baking. Several years ago, I used to pull out all the stops, baked everything from scratch-baked for days, well circumstances change. I made fudge today - it tastes great. We did sugar cookies - the cut and bake kind - my kids had fun decorating them. And chocolate chip cookies - the cut and bake kind. I used to feel like I was cheating using the cut and bake kind - but we always have a lot of fun doing this together. I still struggle with guilt of not doing the "old fashioned" baking - worrying that I have warped my kids somehow - like they are missing out on something - but then again we still have fun together. Well, when you think about it Betty Crocker, Martha White, Pillsbury, do their part in me spending time with the kids. Merry Christmas. And I bet Santa likes our cookies the best!

Live Nativity. We saw a Live Nativity today. God is so good. A reminder of why we have Christmas. He came to this world so humbly - yet He is the King of Kings. He came to save us. His blood was shed for me or for you. For our sins. Please everyone, don't forget to put Jesus first. Don't get so caught up in presents, dinner, parties, though all are fun, that you forget (and I am talking to myself here) that we celebrate because of Him. Merry Christmas.
The lost art of letter writing. I love letters. I love to write them and to receive them. Remember, for those of you who went to summer camp, how you would write your parents a letter, and it would arrive home after you did, and you would be excited seeing the envelope. Excited because you would have written memories. Remember letters from aunts and uncles, grandparents (I did not know mine) and other family members, those with pictures of cousins you would see once year? Those letters from uncles who smoked cigars, the dollar placed inside would smell like your uncle? Or it would smell like your aunt's Avon perfume? Remember those letters you would receive from pen pals assigned to you in school, how you would dream of meeting? The stamps you would save - especially if your pen pal was from a different country - or if a friend was stationed in Japan with her family? I remember a letter I received from a "real live" missionary (as opposed to?????), I thought that was the coolest thing. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate email and the internet, but it is not as personal. A letter written in the writer's own handwriting is a special treat -another kind of memory. I always wanted stationary with my name or initials. I have never had that. That would be so neat. Okay everyone, go write someone a letter.
Secret Santa. Someone has helped my children shop. I have my ideas. So whoever you are, thank you - I haven't seen that many presents with my name on them, since the baby shower for my son. I have presents, real presents, with tags, ribbons and pretty paper. You have no idea how rare it is for me to get presents - not that I am begging or poor mouthing-because I am so blessed and have so much, but I am so excited. I have presents. I am like a kid, I want to shake them, turn them upside down in the hopes that something falls out, or the paper tears just a bit to allow a stingy peek. (and yes I do receive gifts- and I am always so thankful, but never ever so many at one time! Wow!)
My relationship with my mother. Now those are words that will cause women to cringe everywhere. Whether it be a current issue with their mother, a past issue, or things they regret, or things they miss, most will cringe. Or at the least crease their brow. My mother and I have a strange, strange, volatile relationship. We love each other, but we don't necessarily like each other. We need each other, one of us hating it more than the other. The other resenting the ever increasing responsibilities. I just don't remember hugs, or "I love you's" or words or encouragement. I don't remember seeing familiar faces when I was in a program at school or at church. Why? I know my mother loves me, she is of old school, where you don't talk about your feelings, you don't show emotion. And I am right the opposite in so many ways. In many ways it feels like we are "married", she at home all day, me at work. She wanting something done right away - as soon as I walk in the door - me wanting to just sit for 10 minutes. I don't know how to explain it. When we first moved in - we needed help-then my dad died 3 months later, and now she needs me more than I need her - and she resents it. I have always lived to "please" my mother-until recently when I realized it is not going to happen. It is not in her nature to say "good job" or "I'm proud." I have accepted it. I know she loves me. I love her. I just wish we were closer in the ways that count. She has never been the type of person to talk or share feelings. I have so many stories I could tell, but the time is not right, and I really don't want to depress myself.
Okay Missouri Becky, I am not cutting and pasting and probably not tagging. But here are my lists for Christmas: What I don't want for Christmas: 1) Coffee - I don't drink coffee. 2) Hurting friends - I hate to see my friends hurting - especially Precious - I wish I could make it better. 3) Chia anything - what's the point? I am sure if I sat here long enough, I could think of more, but I want to be positive. What I want for Christmas: 1) A healthy and happy year for my kids, family and friends. 2) Someone for me 3) Books and more books And again, I sure I could name more, but these are at the top. Merry Christmas to all! Love, Becky
Christmas with their Dad. My kids had Christmas with their dad yesterday. Since we have been divorced, I have sent a list of what they want to him and his parents. Well, I send it to their grandparents and they share it with him. It has worked out well. I know what they're receiving here in our home through Santa and my family, so there is no duplication, etc. This year, his parents asked for the list via my son. My daughter and I worked on the list - 6 items each, it wasn't an extravagant list by any means-and they knew not to expect everything on the list, I have really toned it down this year all the way around.
Well, they didn't get anything on the list. And this year he and his parents bought gifts together. My son is happy, he received golf clubs and army men, he is in heaven. The army men are a nicer version of those little plastic army men he has that I step on. And I can already tell you, these new guys hurt when you step on them.
My daughter received a digital camera. It is a nice camera, but that is not what she wanted. She is very disappointed. I know it sounds incredibly selfish and inappreciative-but her feelings are hurt. She said "Mom, it is like he doesn't know me." You see if I were to get anyone a camera, it would be my son, he loves, loves, loves cameras. But he is too young. Now mind you, if it were me, she would tell me she didn't want it, can we please return it? But she won't do this with her dad - she said "well, I know if I say that to you, you will be here tomorrow, I'm safe with you, plus his wife would gripe at me."
The mom in me wants to go out and pick up the gifts that were on the list-because they really wanted them, but I just can't - she will be fine-and probably really enjoying the camera a year from now - if she doesn't lose it or break it (which she will) -she is smart and funny, but she loses stuff all the time-and when and if that happens-then I will tell her dad next time - stick to the list.

To Honey Bake or not To Honey Bake?
My mother loves Honey Baked Ham, it is her favorite, and for years she has bought a Honey Baked Ham-I bought it last year. Well, money is tight for her and for me, and so I decided we could do without - she was so disappointed.
Somehow I will be picking up a Honey Baked Ham tomorrow - it is ordered. I may laugh at it, or even tease her abou it. But it is important to her-and will make her happy.

UNDERWEAR FOR CHRISTMAS.....
My son is so funny, even when he is serious.
The other day he said "Mom,you know how Santa brings me socks and underwear every year?" and I replied, "yes, why?"
He then said....
"What can I do to make sure that doesn't happen this year?"
I started laughing. In fact I am pretty sure at that time, socks and underwear were not in Santa's bag...but now I am very sure they will be under our tree this year.
I guess he was figuring socks and underwear -vs- cool toy.
How funny.

Single momhood....
I have said it already being a single parent is hard. And at times you want to separate the two, but you cannot. I hear from couples in my church all the time, how they "date" each other and I am so glad they do, and I can see a difference in those who spend time together as a couple.
But what about a single person? I have not dated since my divorce. And I am sure I have mentioned it before, but my ex-husband has been the only man I have ever kissed. (No, it is not because he is that great a kisser - I have strong beliefs, terribly old fashioned - prudish I'm told and I have never dated anyone) But I really don't want him to be the only man I ever kiss. EEWWWWWWWWWW. Side note: What do you do on a date anyway? Do men hold the door open? Do women pay for dinner? What are the rules?
I worry about introducing people into the lives of my kids. I hear too many stories of single moms who constantly date and introduce men to their children - and they regret it. My kids have a dad, they don't need a fill-in-dad. As Missouri Becky said, I am not one of those women who need to be rescued, but it sure would be nice to have someone for me, someone who loves me.
Loneliness is my main problem. Oh, how I am lonely. I keep wondering why I am here is this spot - am I meant to be single for the rest of my life? Will God send the right man at the right time? Or is He waiting until my kids are grown? I know His plans for me are bigger than I can imagine - but selfishly, I want a hint!
I have been in love since my divorce - never acted on it. Attracted to men, but never acted on it - so I guess I am "normal" in that sense. But I really believe men don't see me - the person- the woman. No, I am not Barbie, but I am not the wicked witch either. I give myself a "5" on a scale of 1 to 10. They see me as a "mom" or "cupcake maker" - they don't associate me with dating. Trust me, I have thought this out - you should see it in action one day.
I know I am rambling, but I am terribly lonely today. Headed to a Christmas dinner, and to shop by myself, no one to share the experience with. And for whatever reason, it hurts terribly. I am wimp!!!!

I know I am rambling, but I am terribly lonely today. Headed to a Christmas dinner, and to shop by myself, no one to share the experience with. And for whatever reason, it hurts terribly. I am wimp!!!!

UPDATES:
Yes, I know it has been a while since I have written. I have heard from many of you. Thanks for your concern! I have been snowed under. At home, work and with church activities. I have been and am so exhausted.
You should be proud, my Christmas cards are out, many with pictures - so, give me my gold star! (And just to give myself a pat on the back - I was addressing Christmas cards at 5:00 in the morning Friday morning!-either pat me on the back or knock some sense into me)
We are finished with the Christmas musical at church. Wow! The kids did great. Yesterday (Sat) at rehearsal, I was concerned, but tonight they blew me away - they looked and sounded great. All the kids are so sweet and I couldn't have been prouder. We sing again on Christmas Eve morning, and I can't think of a better way to start the day.
Friday, I had one of the best nights EVER!!!!!!. The kids and I went to my friend, D.C. and her daughter J's house. It was so much fun. We had a terrific dinner of pizza and cheese dip, sitting on the floor and couch talking and laughing. The kids did karoke, and I am pretty sure, they won't be on American Idol, but it was fun. God has richly blessed me with D.C., I know cannot imagine not knowing her. Her daughter (my future daughter-in-law - though the kids are not too sure about it, but hey, they're 8 - so what do they know?) is really sweet. She is so serious and sensitive. She takes everything to heart.
Saturday, whew, that was a busy day. Rehearsal at 10:00 in the morning. Grocery shopping, etc, then my daughter's Sunday School class had a progressive dinner - our house was appetizers - she then told me they had more fun at the other homes. (that will make you proud)
And because I am a glutton for punishment, I have been working on a slide show of the kids for all of 2006 - giving it as a gift to their dad and grandparents. Christmas shopping is almost complete - I just have to finish for my daughter. And a few odd and ends. That has been stressing me because our pay periods changed - THIS MONTH. Things are always tight, but now they are super tight. But we will get caught up in January. Whew. But thanks to my brother-in-law the some assembly required items are taken care of - not that I couldn't have done it - but he is 10 times more patient than me, who am I kidding? A 100 times more patient.
I will write more later..I have about 10 blogs in my head. So enjoy!

Overwhelmed
Today I am overwhelmed. To the point I cannot think, my head is pounding and I have worked myself into a mood.
I feel covered up at work, I can't focus on anything, and the slightest thing is bothering me. And the "things" are in actuality nothing to worry about, but I let them get to me.
Christams shopping and baking. Haven't started. Don't know the how/when/where. Whew!
My kids are snipping at each other every 5 minutes.
My mother is snipping at me every 5 minutes.
I am snipping at everyone every 5 minutes.
What is wrong with me?????

Mom vs 8 year old.
In one corner you have Mom. She's tired, she's worked all day. Her defenses are down, but she thinks she may have some fight left in her - but she doesn't want to fight, she has to pack lunches for tomorrow, get clothes ready for tomorrow, wash a load of clothes. But the fighting spirit is slowly creeping in.
In the other corner you have the 8 year old son. Full of sass and very feisty. Not too tired (yet), because he didn't do his homework, didn't take a bath or brush his teeth, and didn't pick up toys. He's ready. The whining starts..."I was just soooooo tired, it really isn't fair that I have to do everything when I am tired." (Tears start to fall)
Mom is not wavering, she steps forward, grabs son my his arm, puts him in chair. He does 1 math sheet (5 minutes), he read 2 stories and answers questions (10 minutes), and goes over spelling words (5 minutes). Now a quick bath and teeth are brushed (15 minutes), toys are picked up (yes he picked them - yes I know he thinks its not fair that I am not helping) 15 minutes.
Good night.
I am one mean mom.
But I still have the championship belt.

GEORGE STRAIT
Okay everyone, you can relax. I don't want you to lose valuable sleep worrying about whether or not I am going to George Strait.
I received an early Christmas gift last week - 2 George Strait Tickets! I am so excited. This will be my 15th George Strait concert - I missed the last one when he came to our area. I am sure he was wondering where I was.
The gift came from my boss and the sales team in my office. I have been trying to win tickets - and they were worried I guess I would win. I was not above shameless begging to the radio stations.
I am so excited. Soon, I will pull out all of my George CD's and listen to get ready. I will have to buy an outfit-just in case he will notice I am there. :)
(My sister is going with me)
HERE I COME GEORGE!!!!!!!

LAUGHTER
I love to laugh. I love to laugh. And last night and today has been full of laughter.
A person needs to laugh, it has to be good for your health. I have no proof of that, but it makes sense.
And I admit I have been terribly whiny lately, so I will try to do better on laughing. God has a sense of humor. I mean just look at some of the animals He created..good grief...look at some of the humans. :)
Okay, everyone think of something funny and laugh away!

80's MUSIC
I just love 80's music.
Nevermind the fact that my generation could have stopped Micahel Jackson - at the time - his "quirks" were overlooked.
I know in addition to Micahel Jackson, the 80's brought out Boy George, George Michael,
Pee Wee Herman, and all the synthesizer music. You know the music we hate that we loved.
But there was some good stuff out there. Fun stuff.
Plus you can escape to your youth for just a brief time each day.

WORRYING
I have already admitted it...Several times actually. I am a worrier. I come from a family of worriers. And the sad fact is I am not the worst of us, and I am pretty bad.
It is hard not to worry. Where is my faith? Where is my strong will in these times of worry - it just seems to disappear.
Last night, to avoid worrying, I just went to bed, early. Well, that backfired, because I woke up EARLY - and what else is there to do at 3:00 in the morning..But worry?
What am I worrying about? And yes I know I should be praying and letting go - I am working on that.
1. My son needs dental work done - soon. My daughter has work scheduled in January - all things considered - they are in pretty good shape -but I have no clue how to do handle all this financially. I am working on it.
2. My love life, or lack there of. I know I am cynical and have my moments, but geesh what is wrong with me? I kid you not when I say the only men who seem to attracted to me are either married or old enough to be my father-and I kid you not. And the only men I seem to like end up being gay or married. Or if by chance the man is not married, gay or too old, we are just friends (that's fine too - we all need friends) and there is not one iota of attraction there.
**See #6
3. Christmas Shopping - still worried - trying not to worry.
4. My strange/strained relationship with my mother. Our relationship could take up hours of television programming. :) We love each other, we just don't like each other.
5. I just once would like Child support to arrive on time. Groceries, medicine, school fees are always due and it is stressful sometimes. Who am I kidding. It is stressful all the time. We have to pay $18 for a lost book this week.
6. See #2 - To help my heart get over being hurt and move on. This would help with #2.
7. Bills, bills, bills - they are coming at me from all directions
This is my top 7 - their position rotates from one week (one day) to the next.
I know that in the grand scheme of things - they are not important. I have so much to be thankful for. I am very blessed. I know the Bible tells us not to worry. I can say I am not as bad as I used to be.
It will be okay.

Christmas Angels/Angel Tree Gifts
I cannot tell you how important these are. For those of you who don't know. Angel Trees are trees with the Christmas lists from children who may go without Christmas, were it not for someone picking that Angel from the tree. The ages and lists vary. It is both sweet and sad to read the lists. The kids usually don't ask for much. Most of them usually have necessities before wants on the list.
I have a personal interest in Angel Trees...for you see at one time my kids were on an Angel Tree. I was in the midst of a divorce, losing my home, my father was fighting Alzheimers and my son was sick. I just did not know what to do and how to do it. I was fortunate enough just to get food on the table week to week, much less worry about Christmas.
One day I hope to be able to help an Angel completely, but I am blessed to be part of Sunday School Class that has adopted a 12 year old girl. So, if you can, please adopt an Angel this year, whether you do it by yourself or as part of a group. Go above and beyond the list, think of books, funny pj's, games, a Bible.
And if you are parent and your child is on a list, please do not feel ashamed or feel like you have failed, you are doing the best you can. Don't give up. Keep on keeping on.

I started today with my morning routine, so I thought I would finish off with my night. And it has been a doozy. Homework with my son was a nightmare tonight, I thought we were leveling off, but needless to say I am very cruel in making him study.
My daughter rolled her eyes at me around the 10th time I reminded her to do her homework-so a type of violence was threatened-homework is finished. I am sure I just earned more points for mom of the year.
I have made chili (it has been on my mind and tastebuds since Missouri Becky wrote about chili in her blog), baked some cookies (call me Betty Crocker..well not really, they were from dough bought in the dairy section at Kroger), washed dishes, decorated the forgotten Christmas Bell (I am sure ours will look the best), made flash cards for spelling words, stepped on one GI Joe...ouch, and so on and so on. Talk about walking on the wild side.
Christmas parties at school. Well for my son anyway, they are to wrap a shoe box up, place 20 treats inside and they will distribute. Each child will bring up 20 things, that we as parents will throw away a week after they get them all.
My daughter's class has adopted a 10 year old for Christmas - her gift is to be soccer ball. That is good. I am glad they are doing that. I wish my son's class was doing something similar.
It is 7:30 but it feels like 11:30. I hope I sleep tonight. That would be good. I don't sleep anymore.

Today......
Today I feel lonely. I feel overwhelmed.
Today my daughter got sick at school - had to drive back to our area (hour drive) to take care of her. Then drive back to work because of a training thing I have to do.
As I mentioned before I forgot about a Christmas project for my son.
Tomorrow - dentist appointments. To find out my son will need braces.
I need to get home in time to take my son to a Christmas parade.
Then there is Christmas shopping. How to shop with no $. What to do. What to do. I am worried. Very worried. But it will be okay.
I know married couples struggle - no denying that - but it really is hard being a single parent. You just want to tell your kids and family, okay for the month of December, don't eat, don't get sick, don't use electricity and maybe just maybe I can get Christmas bought. And yes I know gifts and parties are not what it is about, but it still can get you down when things don't flow.
And I am lonely. I feel like I am swimming alone and the waves keep crashing. My heart is breaking and it hurts terribly. I am on the verge of tears - have been all day. Selfishly, I want someone to love me because he wants to. Someone who likes the person I am - warts and all.
Today is today. Tomorrow is tomorrow - all will be okay.

And the award for bad mother goes to.....
ME! Yep. ME! Write it down.
My son had a project to do this weekend, it is a family project, we were to decorate a
Christmas Bell.
Well, guess what? This mom forgot! And when did I remember? This morning, AFTER he was on the bus.
Something like this can totally ruin his day (he is like me is this aspect) I already called the school to let the teacher know. I am worried about him, I can already see his face.
I have been so busy and so tired, that I forgot. Not a good excuse, I should always put my kids first.

Work before work.
I just realized all that I do before even leaving the house each morning for work.
2-3 loads of laundry
Dishes (either unload or load one of the best inventions ever...a dishwasher)
Clean the bathroom
Feed the fish
Clean rooms
Take out Trash
Somehow get two kids ready for school (breakfast, lunches, sign papers they forgot last night)
Get myself ready for work
Handle any stuff for my mother (Pick up medicine, pay bills, etc.)
I know I am not the only mom who does this every day - it amazes me how much we as mothers handle each day-. (And yes I know there are men out there who do it too-so please no snippy emails)
Have a great day!

A mom's viewpoint...
Mornings. Oh, how I love mornings. My son is not a morning person, it is literally a nightmare trying to get him moving. He is slow to wake up, he stumbles into the kitchen and picks up his chocolate milk(I see a future coffee addict). He heads straight to the recliner, where he will zone in and out of reality while trying to wake up. I finally see movement in his eyes, a quick grin, I have to act quickly. He grudgingly washes up, brushes hair and teeth and dresses, and zones out again.
My daughter, is quick to get up, hops right into the shower, but somehow between shampooing and going out the door to catch the bus, we lose 40 minutes on HAIR. She spends all this time on HAIR. I have always been a wash and go kind of gal, so I really don't understand. (yes I was this way even when I was a teen-now mind you I do like to cover up roots and the gray that is starting to sneak in).
Thankfully I have them lay out everything they plan to wear the night before - this saves us about 30 minutes for my daughter-because she will try on her outfit the night before, bend, twirl, stand, sit, jump to see how it all looks. And she will try on several outfits for just the right one, knowing full well, the one she doesn't pick, will be the one she will wear the next day. I guess it looks better on Tuesdays.
My son always "remembers" stuff a day late! Drives me insane.

Shopping.
Well, I survived shopping yesterday. I took my daughter and a friend shopping for her birthday. It was a good day. She spent birthday money and I bought her some clothes (we were going to get shoes - but needless to say she changed her mind)
The mall was crowded - okay it was beyond crowded. But it was fun. We went to lunch and saw "The Nativity" (a real sweet movie - will put everything into perspective)

MY DAUGHTER IS 14 TODAY
Today my daughter turns 14. Wow. She'll be dating and driving soon. (both of these will send me to therapy)
What can I say about her?
She is stubborn, but has a will that keeps her strong.
She is mouthy, but is confident enough to speak up for what she believes in politically and spiritually- for what is right and wrong.
She spends a very long time each day on hair and make-up - but she doesn't need too - she is beautiful.
She is funny - she loves jokes and has a quick wit.
She is loyal to her friends. Hurt them and you hurt her.
She is my champion - if someone upsets me or if she hears anything negative - she jumps out with gloves on - ready to fight for me.
She is smart - smarter than she gives herself credit for.
She is very confident and sure of herself.
She wakes up fast in the mornings - she is up and at 'em every morning.
When I am not around - she takes good care of her brother. Again defending him against the world. Only she is allowed to pick on him.
We have our "moments" when we argue and disagree. Where we don't even like each other.
We have our moments, curled up on the couch together, eating cookie dough and watching "Legally Blonde" or American Idol (though I swear I won't watch this year). We love to play "Word Womp" together - both of us itching to control the keyboard.
She wanted to hang out with me one day in October - just me and her. That was a gift - and fun.
She is the daughter God gave me 14 years ago. I love her so much.
Happy Birthday Girlie. I am proud of you.
