Holiday in Review......
Whew - I am behind.
Finished my shopping on the Friday before Christmas - whew - it was a mess out there - but it was totally fun.
I think I cooked from that Friday all the way through Christmas Day.
Steve's kids came over the Saturday before - it was a nice beginning of the merging of two families. Steve enjoyed seeing his kids open gifts and packages - a first in a long time for him - the smile and look on his face said so much. (he normally just handed them $-no fun!) Guess what we ate? Tacos - everyone had fun.
Attended the sweetest Christmas Eve-Candlelight Service with my sister and her family, Steve and my kids. I loved it.
Children's Choir sounded so sweet on the 23rd - I was very proud of them.
God really blessed our family - everyone had a great Christmas. And I mean more than just gifts. God is so good.
And each day I fell more in love with Steve.

I used to be one of "those"
Let me explain...
I used to be one of those people who had her Christmas Cards ready to mail on December 1st - now I am lucky if my friends and family receive them January 1st.
I used to be one of those people who was finished shopping by December 15th. I will be shopping this weekend.
I used to be one of those people who would bake everything from scratch and it had to be perfect.
Welcome to my world in 2007.....
I am none of the above.
But that is totally okay!
I am having fun and appreciating life.

So, what are you going to be doing on March 21, 2008?
After being in the same Sunday School class for years, after going on 2 white water rafting trips together with the class(and let me tell you, nature girl I am not), many class parties, sitting on a porch swing and talking over 4 years ago during a trip, after friends trying to arrange and encourage dates between us . A first date where I spilled my tea all over the place, a third date where he spilled his drink, long conversations, walks in the park, sitting beside each other in church, him surviving every Sunday night in Children's Choir, being polar opposites, he is real shy and quiet, and I am not. (understatement) He can be in a room of 500 people and not say a word and I feel I have to talk to everyone of them. He is calm and steady. I am not. I chatter constantly. We can honestly say we are each other's best friend - on the same page spiritually with the same values and beliefs.
God has really blessed our relationship at every turn.
Tori and Sam love him. I love him. He loves me.
Steve and I are getting married on March 21, 2008 (Good Friday) - what better day to marry?

Shopping Together....
I experienced something last night that has never happened before.
I went shopping with a guy. My guy. He likes to shop.
It is fun.
Here are some differences between us (and maybe it is this way between men and women)
1. I am a bargain shopper. He is not. I figure you save $30 on a gift - that $30 can be used toward something else.
2. I will bend and squat, sit on the floor to compare two similar items. He figures buy the higher priced item - it has to be better. (See #1)
3. He decorated for Christmas in less than 15 minutes - took me 2 days
4. I am cheap (so my son says) - see #1
5. I will talk to everyone in the store - he does not. (Why not talk - you are in this line why not make friends?)
6. See #1
But the best part of the whole night - we shopped together-he cared about my purchases-we talked and laughed. It was fun.

Old fears and insecurities......
It is great being part of a couple, having someone to love and hold. It is great knowing there is someone out there who loves you because he wants to.
But with every relationship comes with growing pains. I am learning that you battle your old fears and insecurities. And we have to make it our goal to not allow those fears and insecurities to overtake us. He battles being jealous and I battle "not being good enough" and being too independent-hey I've been single for 9+ years! And I am sure there are other issues we will deal with along the way.
I have no doubt we have a future together-we really do love each other-I am in love - it is exciting and scary at the same time. Though they hurt like heck - growing pains draw us closer together.

To the hunters beside. behind, in front of my house at 2:15 yesterday morning....
Do you ever go home? Do you ever work?
I am sure we will be so grateful you have taken care of the deer and any other ferocious animal lurking about...whooo...what's that? Save me...a wild turkey.
(Why did I even know the hunters were there...because we have a dog who has to go out that time of the night.....)

From the mouth of my son....
"Mom, what's up with Steve having his arm around you....this whole touching your back thing...totally unnecessary.
"
"Mom if you get married....here is the plan...you and Tori can share a room and me and your husband can share a room."
"Hey, Tori, you know Halloween has been over a while, take off the costume."
"My sister has a boyfriend...next thing you know she'll be kissing the boy and I will have to beat him up."
Is he funny or what?
