To all those teenage boys calling my house.....

My daughter is not hot.

Just a few years ago...she still looked forward to Santa Claus visiting.

She is not hot.

She is my daughter.

Thank you.
To the those passing out candy tomorrow night..

I like Hershey Bars.

Thank you.

To the hunters in the field beside my house and the woods behind it...

I am trying to think who looks worse..you in your camouflage and orange or me in my pajamas and hair sticking up-chasing a dog, dodging in between and behind stuff, in my bare feet to avoid you seeing me.

I am going to just say you look better...but give me an hour.

Pencils

I bet my son loses 5 pencils a week. If he does not lose them, they are sharpened to about the length of your small toe.
"Mom, I can't wait for you to meet Tyler!"

This is what I heard from my daughter for two weeks - the two weeks leading up to her High School's homecoming game.

Tyler this, Tyler that....blah blah blah.

Finally the big game, I am sitting in the stands. I notice this boy walking beside my daughter. Ah, Ha! now I get to meet Tyler.

Thank goodness I didn't say anything.

Because this is what happened.

"Mom, I want you to meet Johnny."
Signs you are part of a couple...

1.) When someone calls your boyfriend to get your number
2.) When someone will ask you what are "you two doing tonight?"
3.) When you are asked, "How is his dad?" (I have only met his dad once)
4.) When someone at church gives him your baking pan or pot for him to carry.
5.) When you can't stop thinking about the other and your day is incomplete if you don't talk to him.
Comic Books

My son has been reading comic books a PRECIOUS friend gave me to give to him. He is really enjoying them. Last night he was pouring over them - they all have a WWII theme, and he loves them.

Thank you to my most PRECIOUS friend. We hope to hear from you soon.

5 MINUTES
The ever so gentle and sweet man who is stealing my heart a piece at a time said this to me last night....
"5 minutes away from you feels like 5 days."
I started crying. It had to be the sweetest thing I have ever heard.
I am now getting used to this little thing called Love. I feel at times as if I am not good enough.
But he is helping me to get over it - as are my friends.

To the owner of the pig found in my yard this morning....

We don't need that much bacon, honest.
Really? The floor underneath the bed is not a kitchen sink?

Ummmm.....No!

Last night, I am home from work, when what to my wondering eye should appear?

3 Glasses
1 ice cream bowl
2 Spoons
1 Straw

All underneath the bed....

I give up.

Missouri Becky....I got you beat on this one.

Big Brothers
Nope, I don't have any brothers in my family - but I do have big brothers. Guys I work with and go to church with.
They checked out the car before I bought it.
Gave me a list of things to warn my daughter about before she left on a cruise.
One asked me, "Becky, does the guy you are dating, open your doors?"
One calls me to let me know road conditions.
And I could keep going..but you get the idea.
What a blessing!
FEARS
I struggle with a lot of fears - I am a worrier. I am not as bad as I used to be - but I still worry.
You know how things are going real well - but somewhere in the back of your mind you are waiting for a bomb to drop? Or that you will lose that something good- and it will never return?
I think I am so used to bombs and bad news, I am constantly looking back - not appreciating the good.
I really need to work on this.

"Are You Official?"

That is the question I received yesterday at Church, at lunch, and then church again. I am now part of an official couple.

It is really fun.

He has met my son and mother. (Daughter is gone all the time) And I have met his 3 boys - yep count 'em 3 boys - though 2 are grown. We are taking everything ever so slowly - but things seem to be falling into place. We definitely balance each other out- he is as calm, still and quiet as I am wired, wiggly and not quiet. :) (I refuse to say loud) He is shy...ummmm...I am not. I am blunt....he is not. It can be funny. He is patient and I am not.

We are on the same page as far as beliefs and church - which is a major and very important thing for me. He understands how important service and Children's ministry is to me - and he observed me last night - and said he still likes me-that he'll keep me--ha ha! (I have so much fun in Children's Choir - and act like a nut pretty much the whole time - but I am telling you - we had church last night in Kid's Choir!)

My friends are happy for me - I am glad - they are important to me.
(Especially the one who knows me best)

So, yes, it is official, I am part of a couple, on the right path to something good, sweet and blessed by God.

"Just so you know...you don't understand...you don't know anything...it is totally not like you think."

My daughter's words...not mine.

She is almost 15.

I am 38.

I have been told by someone I should tell her this......"I've been 15, you've never been 38."

She is mad because I won't let her "go out" - it's not like it is a date or anything - we just go to the movies. WHATEVER!

Nope, she still can't call boys. Yes, I know, TOTALLY UNFAIR. This isn't 1957 you know! (I let that one slide) (And yes I know she probably sneaks calls - I am not home all the time)

I have "locked" up the computer....a major withdrawal going on here. Yes, I know, TOTALLY UNFAIR.

I have told her she will need to start making some of her own money-by babysitting, etc. She is worried she will have to "give up" her life. IT'S JUST NOT FAIR.

I am trying to figure out how you could love one child so much and be so proud of her and still not get along? This too shall pass? Right? (By the time it passes - my son will be a teenager!)

Singles Group

I belong to a Singles Group/Sunday School class at church. Though our numbers have dwindled down-because of people getting married, we are close and we are growing-yeah! I am taking an active role in activities and calling folks - every person is important.

Last night we had dinner with another group - and there are so many Christian Singles out there - more than you know. The men, believe it or now, worry about finding that "right" one just like the women do.

But belonging to a group is great. You have great friends and fun. You have accountability, you learn and you grow. You need, I need my church family.
Children's Choir Rocks
Each Sunday night I direct Children's Choir. I have no idea why God chose me for this ministry. I love Jesus, love kids and love music. And I have found my niche.
But let me tell you we are in the process of learning and practicing for Christmas, have introduced songs from our Spring Musical and other songs we will sing-but there is just one song we will soon sing in front of Church - that will blow you away! I am so proud of them. They love the song - so they sing their hearts out. They sound so good!
I still have a good team - who work hard each week. I couldn't do it without them. Thanks Guys! I love you all.
Totally "In-Like"

I am dating.

We are very much "in like."

What can I tell you? He makes me feel good about myself. He is kind of shy - but opens up when he gets to know you. He is kind. He is gentle. He is very patient. He "puts up" with my chatter - I talk a mile a minute about the every day things in life. His eyes smile when he does. He is so good to me - something I am not very used too.

He is learning I lose my keys all the time, that I am a worrier, a reader, a wannabe writer of children's books, my love for ice cream, and most things chocolate. I have learned he appreciates the simple things in life, loves movies and television, steak and baked potato every time, he like me does not like Chinese food, and unlike me he doesn't like Mexican food and he tells me he is going to get me "the clapper" so I can find my lost keys.

This past Friday before our date - he brought me flowers. I joked "Does this mean we are a couple now?" His response, "I was calling you my girl after our second date." He talked most of the night - and the wall around my heart cracked considerably.

I cried on the way into work today - not sad tears -but happy tears. I wasn't ready for this - not expecting - not even wanting it. But it is happening. I feel out of control.
